Queen Elizabeth is the longest-reigning and the longest-living British monarch. As the daughter of the Duke and Duchess of York, Elizabeth is a member of the British royal family. She was born on Mayfair, London, as the first child of the Duke and Duchess of York. Her father, the Duke of York, was the first child of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth.
As Queen, Elizabeth has occupied a variety of roles. She has been the Queen of the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Pakistan, and Ceylon. She has also been Head of the Commonwealth. As well as these roles, she has been the President of the Royal Family Foundation.
Her many tours and meetings include state visits to Ireland, Australia, the United Kingdom, the United States, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and the Republic of Ireland.
